DESCRIPTION:

Power Query and Power Pivot are two essential tools for anyone who needs to import, analyse and manipulate large datasets in Excel, allowing them to turn raw data into meaningful insights, resulting better decision-making.

In this session, we will cover the fundamentals of these powerful data analysis tools that are built into Excel.

Power Query is used to import, transform, and merge data from multiple sources whilst Power Pivot is used to create relationships (i.e. links) between multiple data sources, allowing you to create Pivot Tables from connected datasets, removing many of the limitations and frustrations that users find with creating traditional Pivot Tables in Excel.

 Why You Should Attend:

In this training, you will learn, using practical examples, how Power Pivot and Power Query work together to provide Business Intelligence and reporting functionality within the familiar environment of Excel to provide you with better business insights and enable you to make more informed business decisions.

Areas Covered In The Session:

  • Import data into Excel from sources such as text files, web pages and databases
  • Avoid Excelโ€™s "million-row limitation"
  • Keep the imported data in sync with the source data using just two clicks
  • Save a ton of time โ€“ use the Query Editor to automate the data cleaning process
  • Merge, Transform and Combine data from multiple sources
  • The importance of The Data Model and how Power Pivot is used to manage it
  • Creating Pivot Tables from multiple datasets
  • Creating Formulas from the Data Model: Measures and Calculated Columns

Who Should Attend:

This training is aimed at users of Excel (2010 and above for Windows) who wish to learn about Power Pivot and Power Query. Attendees should have at least intermediate knowledge of Excel and be familiar with formulas and creating Pivot tables.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Power Pivot may not be available for your version of Excel. If you are unsure whether this training is relevant for your version of Excel, please check with your IT department or see this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/where-is-power-pivot-aa64e217-4b6e-410b-8337-20b87e1c2a4b

Users of versions of Excel prior to 2016 will need to download and install the Power Query add-in. For 2016 and above, the functionality is built-in to Excel.
